Assessment is the most important part prior therapy
As the rates of autism continue to increase, so does the need for parents, caregivers, and therapists to better identify the severity of the condition in children. One of the most important tools that can help is the Childhood Autism Rating Scale. This scale was created by Dr. Kenneth A. Rubin in the late 1980’s and is now used by many professionals to get a better understanding of the condition. In this post, I will go over the scale, how parents, teachers, and therapists can use it, and how the scale can help identify autism in children.
What is the Childhood Autism Rating Scale?
The Childhood Autism Rating Scale is a tool to help identify and help children with autism. The scale was created by Dr. Tori Jackson and Dr. Rochelle L. Lidz. The scale consists of two parts. The first part consists of four questions that are asked to the parents of children with autism. These questions are:
How often does the child talk?
How often does the child play with others?
How often does the child want to be with others?
How often does the child avoid eye contact?
The second part of the scale consists of six questions that are asked to the children with autism. These questions are:
How often does the child flap hands or fingers?
How often does the child point to objects?
How often does the child touch his or her face?
How often does the child make noises?
How often does the child touch or pull on his or her own body?
How often does the child make noises?
How children with autism are evaluated?
The Childhood Autism Rating Scale is a helpful tool that is used to evaluate the severity of a child’s autism. It is a tool that can be used by parents, teachers, and psychologists. It is a tool that is used to help identify children with autism and help them get the help they need. The tool is also used to help determine the severity of a child’s autism and help determine the best treatment options. The tool is a set of questions that are asked of the child and the parent. The tool is made up of six subscales, which are: social interaction, social communication, imagination, repetitive/restricted behavior, anxiety/fears, and sleep.
How can you use the scale?
The Childhood Autism Rating Scale is a tool that can be helpful in identifying and helping children with autism. The scale is a series of questions that can be used to help determine how much of a risk your child has for developing autism. The questions are based off of the severity of the symptoms that are seen in autism.
The questions are:
Question 1: Does your child have a strong desire to seek out specific objects or people?
Question 2: Does your child have an intense preoccupation with a specific object or idea?
Question 3: Does your child have a tendency to become anxious and upset when you change routine patterns?
Question 4: Does your child have a limited range of interests or activities?
Question 5: Does your child have a strong interest in a particular object or person
Question 6: Does your child have a strong desire to touch or squeeze objects or people?
Question 7: Does your child have a strong interest in looking at or carrying out a particular action?
Question 8: Does your child have a strong interest in playing with a particular toy or object? Question 9: Does your child have a strong interest in a particular type of food?
Conclusion
As a mother of a child with autism, I have been looking for ways to help my son. I have found that the Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS) has been a great tool for us. The CARS is a tool that helps parents identify the severity of autism in their children. This can help parents and professionals decide on the best course of treatment for the child and family. The CARS is also a helpful tool for parents to use with their children. This is a great tool for parents to use in their homes and in therapy.
